Chomp by Carl Hiaasen
Chomp is Carl Hiaasen's latest eco-themed book. It is a wacky adventure revolving around a boy named Wahoo and his father Mickey, who is a well-known animal wrangler. Wahoo's father takes a job on the popular reality TV show, Expedition Survival! and allows the show to film at his family’s Everglades property. The family was also hired to prevent the show's star, Derek Badger, from accidentally killing himself with the local wildlife. There are many interesting characters in this book, including Wahoo's new friend, Tuna.
Smile by Raina Telgemeier
Like any other sixth grade girl, Raina (who has the same name as the author. Hint-hint.) wants to be normal. However, an unfortunate mishap happened to Raina one night after Girl Scouts. She tripped and fell, severely injuring her two front teeth. This leads to Raina having to wear a retainer with fake teeth attached resulting in her having low self-esteem. This book explores preteen issues which everyone can relate to regardless whether it is missing teeth or not!.
Middle School: Get Me out of Here! by James Patterson and Chris Tebbetts
This is a sequel to James Patterson's book, Middle School, The Worst Years of My Life. Now that Rafe Khatchadorian is in seventh grade, he thinks he has it made. Rafe finally gets to prove his artistic talent upon acceptance to art school. But everything is not like it seems to be as everyone seems to be more talented than him. Rafe wants to prove himself to his fellow classmate and he also wants to uncover secrets about the family he never knew.
