First Friday - August 7th

As a participating gallery in the Richmond First Friday Artwalk, the Richmond Main Public Library is proud to present two new artists whose work will be on display in the library from August 7th through September 1st. Join us this Friday, August 7th on opening night from 7-9pm.

Second Floor Gallery:

Kevin Lee Curry
Rich City Relic

Rich City Relic is a collection of works in mixed media by Richmond artist Kevin Lee Curry. It shows great happenings in America through a bold and nostalgic point-of-view. These tragedies and triumphs are expressed through monumental events, such as the horrific aftermath of "9-11" to events leading up to the historic election of President Obama. This is not just an artwork. This is a heartfelt contribution to the city of Richmond and to all of America.

Dooley Hall:

Meena Khalili
Ink. Paper. Print.

A collection of printed works including monoprints, illustrations and polymer prints.

Learn more about Meena Khalili and view her work and background here.

Follow her current projects and creative process on her blog, Visual Language.
(I particularly like the post about the visualization of Paula Deen's use of butter)

Finally, read an interview with the artist conducted by RVA Magazine here.
