Adventure at Your Library

This past Saturday, a hideous beast stalked the auditorium at the Main Public Library but was bested by the bravery of our young readers...

...with the help of a Ranger, Diplomat and Baron, of course.

"Escape to Araluen," a series of interactive skits performed by the Striking Viking Story Pirates and based on the first book of the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan, came to the Main Public Library on Saturday, September 12th, and I think it's safe to say that every apprentice in attendance had a fantastic time. Apprentice challenges including target practice, stealth, persuasion and even singing were passed with flying colors by Richmond Public Library readers.

Free copies of books from the Ranger's Apprentice series were available to the audience and the actors - ahem - the Ranger, Baron and Diplomat signed all copies after the show.

Be sure to check out the Richmond Public Library's Flickr stream to see the full set of pictures from the show! Just click on our "Flickr Badge" on the right of this page.

A special thanks goes to the Friends of the Richmond Public Library as well as Narnia Children's Books for making this event possible. And if you happened to miss out on this fantastic event, don't worry. There are several other upcoming events at your library, including International Talk Like a Pirate Day, that are sure to be just as enjoyable as this performance was. Check our our calendar at the top of this page, or on the RPL website to find your next event to attend! We hope to see you then!
