Summer Reading!

It's that time of the summer where the Summer Reading challenge is in full swing at your local Richmond Public Library! This past weekend saw many a kick-off party at local branches including a hot dog picnic at Ginter Park and face painting at Broad Rock! Tomorrow, the West End branch will be holding their kick-off party at 12 p.m. with a carnival!

The basics of Summer Reading are easy:

1) Register your child as a participant at your local branch (registration began on June 26th)

2) Read as many books as you can get your hands on between now and August 7th!

3) For every book read, the name of the reader will be entered into the grand prize drawing for a new laptop computer!

4) Attend the FREE Grand Finale party at the Main library on August 14th to learn the winner for each branch and to see if you won a laptop! (You can have a peek of last year's Grand Finale here)

Last year, participants read thousands of books. Lets try to break that record this year! Check out the online catalog for possible selections, or stop by your local branch and see what they have in store for you. Summer Reading is a great way to enjoy your summer and a great way to keep cool in your local branch! We hope to see you soon - happy reading.
