Colum McCann Awarded IMPAC Dublin Award

We were excited to learn last month that Colum McCann was awarded the 2011 IMPAC Dublin Literary Award for his novel, Let the Great World Spin.

This is a prestigious international award for fiction writers. Richmond Public Library is one of 150 libraries worldwide that submits nominations. RPL also nominated the 2005 winner, Edward Jones' The Known World.

The process involved in choosing the winner of the IMPAC Dublin Award is unique becuase it involves libraries around the globe and highlights the role of librarians in the literary world. The award is also administered by Dublin City Public Libraries.

We are clearly pleased with the judges' choice of winner! Congratulations to Colum McCann.
