May First Friday at Main

First Friday at the Main Library is only a week away! The popular "Why Children's Books" exhibit is on display in two-thirds of our gallery space, so stop by to read the essays during Art Walk. In the Gellman Room, we'll have "Paintings of River and Country Scenes"--atmospheric watercolors by Tappahannock artist Ann Eubank.

The Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale will be open on Friday night from 7 to 9 pm, with a huge selection of used books for sale at prices that can't be beat.

As part of the Friends' Richmond Writers Series, Connie Lapallo will discuss her Jamestown Sky series, which is based on the true story of the women and children who ventured to early Virginia. The discussion and book signing will begin at 7 pm in the Special Collections Room.

And in case you haven't heard, we'll also be celebrating Cinco de Mayo a day early with a free and family-friendly dance party! At 6 pm, Salsa dance instructor Edwin Roa will provide a lesson for those new to Salsa. Then at 7, the dancing really begins! Live Afro-Cuban music will be provided by Orquesta Tropikiimba and The Salsa Youth Orchestra. Bring your dancing shoes and get ready for a fun time.

Orquesta Tropikiimba will provide live music.

The Main Library will be jumpin' until 9:00 with music, dancing, art, and books! We hope you're planning to join us.
