Job Seeker Services at RPL

Are you currently looking for work and need help finding the right job? Do you need help refreshing an old resume? Are you stumped by seemingly endless online applications? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the Jobseeker Program at Richmond Public Library is right for you. Volunteers at Richmond Public Library offer one-on-one help with:
  • creating resumes,
  • completing online applications, and
  • creating email accounts.
One-on-one help is available during scheduled hours at the Main Library. The schedule is available in the Main Library's computer lab. Call 646-2551 to learn more about the program.

If a lack of computer skills is holding you back in your job search, try attending the Job Club held at the Main Library every Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Job Club, which is facilitated by staff from The Daily Planet, is a group that meets weekly to cover topics involved in finding employment and also to spend time looking for and applying for jobs online.  Lessons cover topics ranging from using the internet to search for jobs to learning strategies that will help you ace pre-employment testing. The program is first-come, first-serve, so be sure to arrive on time!

We also have a full range of computer classes for beginners and intermediate students. If you need to get comfortable using a computer or if you want to update your Microsoft Office Suite skills, we'll have a class that suits your needs. Call your branch to see what classes we're offering this month.

All Richmond Public Library locations offer free Internet access and computers that you can use to search for and apply for jobs, check your e-mail, and utilize online social networks to keep in touch with your professional contacts. We also have copies of the Richmond Times-Dispatch and other newspapers on hand so that you can look for jobs the old-fashioned way in the classified section.

An of course we have books to help you during your job search, too. Learn about strategies for interviews, get  ideas for resumes and cover letters, and explore new ways to develop a strong professional network. Check one out today!
