Richmond Public Library System to offer eReaders

Beginning today, September 6, the Richmond Public Library will have eReaders (electronic readers) available for loan to patrons with valid library cards. We are excited to be the only library system in Central Virginia offering portable reading devices for loan.

Funded by the Richmond Public Library Foundation, the library's eReader project allows library patrons to borrow one of 36 Nook Simple Touch Readers loaded with a selection of current popular titles. Each library branch has four eReaders with selections from particular genres, including current bestsellers, mysteries, and urban fiction.

Patrons may reserve an eReader at any library branch or through the online catalog at www.richmondpubliclibrary.org and the eReader will be transferred to their desired branch for pick up. Searching 'nook' in the catalog will bring up a list of all available themes.

In keeping with the trend of using technology to enhance the library experience for its patrons, we will also begin offering downloadable books in mid-October. Stay tuned for more details!

This is awesome! I just saw a flyer in the Ginter Park branch about this. When do the pre-loaded books change?
