Natalie - Thanks for this, it made me smile and think about my Mother and sister who seem to be able whip up something without thinking. Both could cook for 1-100 with ease. I, on the other hand, volunteer to bring drinks or bread that I buy from Sub Rosa or Billy Bread's, or something I can purchase at a farmers market!
My favorite cookbooks were those from local churches, I loved finding my grandmother's recipes - her peach cobbler and fried appricot pies...just thinking about them makes me salivate. I still have some of these on my bookshelf. I love seeing my Mother's name and all of our neighbors and recipes that were crossed out because they were terrible or "yum" next to them. If you love cookbooks, the Main library has an amazing collection in the "stacks" we will gladly get them for you. There are some great ones that will be on sale at our next Friends Book Sale!
